Some nifty graphs
Here are some nifty graphs which are similar to those in the MRTG section. These are produced using the RRDTOOL utility, which is an evolution of MRTG by the same author, Tobi Oetiker.
RRDTOOL lets me sample any data I want and make it into a graph over time.
Please note that these databases have been collecting data since 26 October 2002 and the output may be a little sparse if you're close to that date. In particular, the yearly one will look spectacularly empty for at least a week.
"But Dave, these graphs are completely pointless!". Well, yes they are, but this is how I'm learning to use this tool - by actually using it. Soon, I hope to have all the network traffic on one graph, colour coded by port.
- Gizmo's CPU Load - This is `cat /proc/stat` graphed, for those of you familiar with Linux.
- Gizmo's Temperatures - These temperatures are from the hardware sensors.
- Gizmo's Load Averages
- Gizmo's Wakeups from Idle per second
- Comment Spam graphs
- Gizmo's Fan Speeds - Fan speeds are available from the hardware sensors
- Hong Kong Weather - Direct from the HK Observatory.
- Temperature Comparison - Comparing temperatures between my computers at home at the Hong Kong Observatory.
- SMTP Server Load - How busy is my mail server?
- HTTP Server Load - How busy is my web server?
I've stopped including the stats from Mojo as it basically doesn't exist anymore. Also, it's a pain to the sensor information from a windows box without some proprietary software.
Someday, I may resurrect the snmp statistics, but don't hold your breath.
